We could say this is named for the original Bonanno brothers, nine of them, and their boldness in travelling from Sicily to Ellis Island in 1919. Or we could say it’s named for the second wave of Bonanno Brothers, two of them, and the entrepreneurial spirit behind their Jersey construction company, Bonanno Brothers. We could even claim it’s named for Frank Bonanno himself, the youngest of three brothers, who learned to spin pizza in middle school and won his wife’s heart tossing dough in the window of Anthony’s right here in Denver. In truth, though, Bonanno Brothers Pizzeria is named for none of these. Here, we celebrate boldness and entrepreneurial spirit and brotherhood, yes, but mostly we celebrate the beauty of a fresh spun pizza, and we honor Frank’s sons, the brothers Luca and Marco Bonanno.
